MURDERER ON A WHITE HORSE

Documentary special
60’ (2016)

A portrait of Mariann Poulsen and a critical review of the public sensation of a tabloid scoop: She had married notorious murderer Peter Lundin while her boyfriend and father of her child was clueless at home.

As a teenager, Mariann had a long-standing romantic pen pal in notorious Danish murderer Peter Lundin. He had killed his mother, a girlfriend and her two young sons before being sentenced to life in prison from where he took up a romantic correspondence with Mariann. It began when she was 14, was found out and brought to an end when she was 17.

But when she moved to Copenhagen with her boyfriend Brandur to study, she decided to go and meet Peter Lundin in prison. After a years-long affair, they were married in secret. Or so she thought. On the day of the wedding, Danish tabloid Ekstra Bladet had a photographer in place. The next morning, Mariann was on the front page and her world came tumbling down.
